Terra Nova School is committed to ensuring the very best education for all of our students. In September 2019 Terra Nova reintroduced full boarding provision to sit alongside our day and flexi boarding offer. Our desire was to increase the cultural diversity within our community. 

Language is at the heart of every community and an increasing number of our students require further English language support in order to achieve highly in both academic studies and their social development. As such we are looking to appoint an EAL specialist, initially on a part-time basis. 

For those looking for a full time position we are able to consider  people who can also offer other subjects; particularly geography, sport or general primary class teachers. 


EAL Role & Expectations

To uphold School’s Vision and guiding principles

Full responsibility for English Language teaching and assimilation into the mainstream english curriculum for EAL students having limited or no English language skills

Equip EAL students with the necessary English vocabulary, oral and writing skills

Work closely with parents, class and subject teachers to continuously support the English needs of EAL students

Successfully write and implement EAL Teaching and Improvement/Development Plans

Analyse assessment data to measure EAL students’ progress

To possess growth mindset and embrace change

To possess excellent knowledge and experience of assessment and tracking to inform student progress, including the use of standardised tests

To deliver INSET/training to staff as part of the profesisional learning programme 

To assist the School with developing greater ‘impact on learning’ practices

To have sound knowledge and practice of the National Curriculum for England, curriculum development and current educational thinking

To be an excellent practitioner

To be a team player

To possess excellent time management, communication and people skills

To contribute to the wider School Community
