History

Founded in 1918, Salcombe is a co-educational preparatory day school for children aged between 3 and 11. The school is situated on two neighbouring sites in Southgate, North London, and is served by excellent road and rail links.

Salcombe has a long tradition of success in preparing children for selective maintained and independent schools at 11+, as well as offering considerable opportunities for social, cultural and sporting activities.

Aims

At Salcombe, we are committed to providing the highest educational standards.

This means we:

  • Promote the highest academic achievements, in line with each child’s ability.
  • Pursue a full programme of cultural, social and moral education within a stimulating and happy environment, where consideration for others is fostered.
  • Provide the guidance, discipline, support and care that children need.
  • Help children to flourish by allowing them to experience and enjoy all aspects of life, without any undue pressure.

Management

Salcombe Preparatory School is run by its Headteacher and her team of senior staff, who retain the school’s unique atmosphere. The Headteacher is a member of the National Association of Head Teachers and the Independent Schools Association.
