Job overview

Broomfield House School is a leading and outstanding Prep School in Kew Gardens. Family owned and traditionally run we pride ourselves on the individual care and attention we provide to each of the 160 children in our school.

The role is to be a specialist early years' teacher with QTS (early years specialism) in our early years' department working as part of our team of teachers led by our early years' co-ordinator. The early years' teacher is an important member of our academic team, ambitiously developing our pupils as they begin their Broomfield education from Early Years into the increasingly demanding academic challenges of Key Stage 1.  Experience and evidence of managing this transition, harnessing pupils’ academic potential and making learning inspiring and fun would be advantageous in this role. Evidence of excellent planning and differentiation within the EYFS is essential in this role.

Our early years’ teachers are supported by a team of experienced and well qualified full time classroom assistants who help prepare lessons, mark work and support the learning needs of the children. There are also specialist teachers for modern languages, music, drama, sports, and ICT.

You will have a high degree of motivation to develop the academic potential of our pupils along with a good understanding of the curriculum and academic requirements in the early years and, ideally, some experience and understanding of the culture of a school that prepares children for senior school examinations in London independent schools. The role may be designated as Deputy Early Years' Co-ordinator for appropriately qualified and experienced candidates and will have a focus in our 3-4 year old Pre-Kindergarten class.

This role is ideal for a highly organized, experienced and professional teacher who wishes to develop an already well-established curriculum into an example of excellence.

The role is offered initially until the end of the summer term in 2019, and may be extended by mutual agreement until February 2020 or may become permanent in time.

An application form and job description may be obtained by emailing the head teacher’s secretary, Mrs B Smith, on head@broomfieldhouse.com.

Broomfield House School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children; applicants must be willing to undergo the child protection screening appropriate to the post, including an enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service and references from previous employers.

The closing date for applications is: 22 November 2018

Interview Dates are to be held week beginning 26 November 2018

All applications should be sent to: Norton York, Headteacher, Broomfield House School, Broomfield Rd, Kew Gardens, Surrey TW9 3HS.  Applications should be made by covering letter, accompanied by a fully completed application form.
