We seek an experienced and well-qualified practitioner to give professional leadership to the Early Years Foundation Stage, working as part of the Junior School leadership team to develop a high-quality learning experience for our youngest pupils. The post holder will contribute to the strategic direction and development of the EYFS, including the development, implementation and monitoring of school improvement plans based on school self-evaluation. Previous experience of teaching within a British-style school is essential as is familiarity with safeguarding practices within such a setting.

Person Specification

  • graduate with qualified teacher status and leadership experience in Early Years education;
  • clear evidence of willingness to continue learning and developing as a reflective practitioner including;
  • enthusiastic and innovative teacher with a genuine passion for learning, who can motivate and inspire staff and children;
  • proven ability to effectively lead and work with a team in a collaborative manner;
  • committed to contributing to a holistic approach to education;
  • recent experience teaching the National Curriculum for England;
  • meets our CHILD PROTECTION and SAFEGUARDING requirements in full.

To comply with Egyptian employment law, applicants must have Qualified Teacher Status and a MINIMUM of three years post-QTS teaching experience.

Remuneration

The British International School, Cairo (BISC) operates a similar teaching scale to schools in the UK which increases with teaching experience. All salaries are tax free and paid in Pounds Sterling. The current basic salary for a teacher with three years’ experience is £34,560 p.a. while the salary of the majority of staff is just under £40,000 p.a. The post attracts an additional allowance commensurate with the associated responsibilities. In addition all teachers on an overseas contract benefit from rent-free, furnished accommodation, private BUPA Gold health insurance and annual return travel to the UK. For teachers with school-aged children, there is full fee remission for the first two children.
