Job overview

Le Rondin School is seeking to appoint, with effect from 1st September 2017, a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher. The person appointed will be required to teach throughout the age range, but initially in EYFS / Key Stage 1. They will need to demonstrate a commitment to high standards of teaching and learning and will be expected to make a full contribution to the life of the School.

This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a valued team. Le Rondin is a Primary Special School for pupils aged 3-11 years who have a wide range of learning difficulties and additional special educational needs. The School is organised in three Departments: Early Years (from Nursery to Year 2); Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4); and Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 and 6). At Le Rondin we aim to provide a bespoke curriculum tuned to the needs of individual pupils. Le Rondin is co-located with the Forest Primary School and the two schools share some facilities.

The School is wholly maintained by the States of Guernsey and the Centre accommodates colleagues from across the organisation who work closely in multi-agency teams to provide the best possible support for our pupils.

This post carries a five-year employment permit. If appointed, you can expect to:

  • Work in a well-resourced school that follows an innovative Bailiwick curriculum based on the English National Curriculum and which has favourable PTRs;
  • Be part of a leading development of ICT in education and be allocated a personal laptop;
  • Receive a generous relocation package to the island, including rent allowance;
  • Enjoy the benefits of more generous tax allowances on an island with no VAT.
