A great opportunity has arisen due to Maternity leave for a qualified L3 Early Years Practitioner to work at our Forest School Nursery based at the wonderful site of Broomfield Hall where you will support children within the nursery to reach their own individual potential and ensure all the children in your care are in a happy, safe and stimulating environment. The successful candidate will have experience of working with children under 5 and a love of the outdoors. 

Role Responsibilities:

  • To undertake a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children in your area.
  • To identify and be responsible for advising the Manager of any special needs of individual children and assist in meeting these needs.
  • To support colleagues and engage in good team practice including children’s learning journeys and planning for Children’s individual learning.
  • To keep up to date with safeguarding issues relating to the nursery, children, families and staff
  • To use the outdoor environment as an extension of the indoor environment
  • To liaise with and support parents and other family members

Essential Skills/Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with young children and adults
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • NNEB or equivalent level 3 childcare qualification
  • Level 2 maths
  • Level 2 English

Derby College is a large general further education college with four sites in or near the city of Derby. It supports around 26,000 learners, who choose from more than 1,000 full-time and part-time apprenticeship, A-level, BTEC and NVQ courses.   

Derby College was established as a single institution in 2002 by merging three further education colleges: Mackworth Tertiary College, Wilmorton Tertiary College and Broomfield Agricultural College. A merger between South East Derbyshire College and Derby College was approved in 2010. Heavy investment has been made by the college in its teaching and learning facilities, from the fully equipped teaching kitchens at the Roundhouse campus to the high-tech science labs at the Joseph Wright Centre and the Equestrian Centre at the Broomfield Hall campus.
