Part time (28 hours per week minimum), term time plus 6 training days

£20,000 pro rata 

(Maternity cover from September 2017)

Ashville College, a leading independent co-educational day and boarding school in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, seeks to appoint an Early Years Practitioner for our extended Pre School provision. This is on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave for the regular post holder. 

The candidate will be enthusiastic, committed and able to relate well with children aged between 2 and 5; they will have an excellent knowledge of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.

Working as part of a team is an important attribute. The ability to work in harmony with parents is vital, as is creating a warm and welcoming environment in the classroom so that parents feel involved with their child’s learning.

A minimum Level 3 qualification is required and candidates are requested to provide a hand written letter with their application.

Ashville College is a co-educational, independent school for day and boarding pupils aged 2–18. The college, set in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, comprises a pre-school, prep school and senior school with pupil numbers totaling around 870, 170 of whom are in the sixth form and 100 are boarders. The school is a registered charity, administered by Ashville College Trustees.

Ashville College was founded in 1877 as a boarding school for boys by the United Methodist Free Church. Expansion over the decades culminated in a merger with Elmfield College, Harrogate, in the 1930s, by which time Ashville was the largest private school in the north of England.   The most significant development came in 1982 when the school become co-educational.
