Griffin House School is a highly successful independent primary school for children from the ages of 3-11years.

We are looking to appoint a reliable, enthusiastic and self-motivated teaching and learning assistant to join our friendly and supportive Early Years Team. Previous experience of working with children in an Early Years setting would be an advantage. Candidates will need to have excellent interpersonal skills, a warm and caring personality and a commitment to the nature and development of young children. A good level of numeracy and literacy skills are required together with a positive approach, patience and understanding. The ability to communicate effectively with pupils and other staff is essential. Applicants must hold a Level 3 Early Years Qualification.


Summary Job Description

In summary your main role as teaching and learning assistant is to:

i) Work together with the class teacher to support children’s participation in day to day learning activities.

ii) Assist in the preparation of the classroom for each lesson.

iii) Ensure the classroom environment is kept tidy and organised.

iv) Work with the class teacher to help create displays of the children’s work.

v) Develop and foster the appropriate skills and social abilities to enable the optimum development of children, according to age, ability and aptitude

vi) Supervise small groups of children during school trips, concerts and plays.

vii) Work as part of a team, be flexible and prepared to use own initiative.

viii) Play a vital role in the life of the school including sharing the duty rota for breaks, lunchtimes, and attend some Open Mornings.

This post will be subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check as our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children in our care. Training and support will be an ongoing aspect of the role.
