Description The Director of Schools invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced, and highly motivated personnel for the position of Education Officer: Behaviour Support (0.6 FTE)
Position Requirements As a member of the Student Support Unit, within Teaching and Learning Services, the Education Officer: Behaviour Support will assist staff in schools to build their capacity to implement frameworks, programs, and practices to support students with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
Essential Criteria • A clear understanding of, and commitment to, the ethos of Catholic schools
• Qualifications in special education / psychology / mental health or related field
• Extensive experience in supporting a System of schools (K-12) to assist students with behavioural, social-emotional, and mental health difficulties
• Proven ability to support schools in the implementation of whole school frameworks such as School-wide Positive Behaviour for Learning, and Be You
• An understanding of Case Management Models in schools
• A working knowledge of the Disability Discrimination Act and the Disability Standards for Education and their implications for schools
• Demonstrated ability to support schools in the selection and implementation of SEL programs (K-12)
• Extensive experience in the delivery of professional development for school staff and parents
• Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
• Excellent organisational, communication and information technology skills
• 3 referees to be listed on application

Conditions of EmploymentConditions and salary commensurate with the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle Catholic Schools Office Employees Enterprise Agreement 2017 - Education and Professional Officers salary scale 3.3.

The Catholic Schools Office (CSO), is responsible for the leadership, efficient operation and management of systemic schools which educate more than 18,000 students in 45 Primary schools, 10 Secondary schools and one K-12 school in the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.
