About the role

Reporting to the Supervisor: Strategic Initiatives and Infrastructure Development the Education Officer: Diverse Learning Complex Case Management Support provides direct professional support to the Manager, Supervisors and Principals in dealing with complex and/or sensitive student-related matters. Responding to these matters involves intensive assessment, high-order planning and requires a collaborative, consultative and synergistic approach.

The successful candidate for this position will be a highly effective leader responsible for:

  • accepting direction, collaborating and communicating effectively in a timely manner with the Diverse Learning Leadership team and Principals in relation to a number of sensitive matters
  • reviewing case history documentation, identifying ways to resolve challenging issues and following through on process aspects to ensure that SCS Diverse Learning procedures are effectively implemented
  • coordinating the completion of comprehensive case histories and chronologies and where necessary, being responsible for the ongoing monitoring of various cases
  • drafting accurate and timely Briefing Papers, correspondence and communications as required
  • with members of the Diverse Learning Leadership team and Principals, facilitating meetings with relevant stakeholders to identify and respond to key issues and focus on the achievement of positive outcomes for students’ learning engagement and achievement
  • ensuring NCCD Personalised Plans related to high-stakes cases, incorporate updated data, are regularly reviewed and clearly outline the actions required to address presenting issues
  • monitoring progress and identifying additional internal and external supports for particular students, if necessary
  • evaluating the impact and outcomes of reviewed reasonable adjustments and offering detailed information to the Manager and Supervisors
  • supporting the actioning of various matters in consultation with key stakeholders
  • managing all tasks and actions in accordance with privacy and confidentiality requirements
  • compiling a directory of external support services across the greater Sydney area
  • assisting the Manager: Diverse Learning in preparing a range of documentation for SCS representation in such forums as the Australian Human Rights Commission when required
  • designing and delivering professional learning for Principals and teachers on topics related to the role.

About you

The successful candidate will also possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • graduate degree in Education, Teaching, Psychology or Social Work
  • demonstrated five years minimum supporting case management in schools
  • in-depth knowledge of the DDA (1992) and DDA Standards for Education Providers (2005, 2011)
  • knowledge of NSW and Commonwealth investigative bodies, their functions and processes as they pertain to education
  • experienced in leading staff in professional learning
  • demonstrated success in improving student outcomes
  • demonstrated success in implementing school-wide initiatives
  • experienced in using data analysis to inform educational initiatives
  • demonstrated ability to articulate contemporary educational trends in both local and international contexts
  • demonstrated high-level written, oral and presentation skills.

Additionally, you will are required to;

  • be a qualified and accredited teacher with NESA
  • operate at the Highly Accomplished or Lead level of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
