Position Requirements | The Education Officer – Early Learning aims to: • Support school communities in understanding and implementing Early Learning Policy, procedures, philosophy, pedagogy and practices. • Work with the Head of Teaching and Learning, Education Officers and Project Officers, in addressing the capabilities, needs and interests of children in the early years of school as well as children transitioning to Kindergarten in primary schools across the Diocese. • Support primary schools in the delivery of quality teaching and learning and the implementation of the syllabus across all KLAs within curriculum and assessment requirements. • Provide appropriate professional development to schools as required. • This position is a 1.0 FTE The Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle is committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, preventing those in our care from suffering abuse or neglect. Essential Criteria | The Education Officer – Early Learning will be able to demonstrate the following key criteria for this position: Essential • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and to ensure a Catholic perspective across the curriculum • Demonstrated commitment to and thorough knowledge of Early Learning philosophy, theory, research and pedagogical and evidence-based practice; and experience in designing contemporary and innovative learning opportunities aligned to the Early Learning Policy and Procedure documents • Ability to plan and evaluate collaboratively with teachers and to model and share best practice in Early Learning within the school environment and across the system of schools • Sound understanding of AEDC (Australian Early Development Census), National Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)and Early Learning Policy and Procedure • Sound understanding of current curriculum, assessment and reporting requirements in primary schools with the capacity to provide initiative and leadership in areas of curriculum development and cross curriculum content in syllabi through an Early Learning lens • Proven student success through effective use of literacy and numeracy data to assess and provide feedback and optimise educational outcomes • Strong organisational skills and excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to support and enhance a culture of continuous improvement within the school environment • Experience in a formal leadership position and/or other relevant positions including successful mentoring or coaching roles • A four-year trained teacher classification and a minimum of ten years classroom teaching experience including experience in Early Learning settings or the Early Years of school • Post graduate qualifications at Master level including Early Childhood qualifications • Willingness to comply with the CSO Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead Policy. Category C - Accreditation for Leadership The applicant must provide evidence of the following: • Four-year trained teacher classification • Active NESA Accreditation • Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number •Proof of Covid vaccination status. |

The Catholic Schools Office (CSO), is responsible for the leadership, efficient operation and management of systemic schools which educate more than 18,000 students in 45 Primary schools, 10 Secondary schools and one K-12 school in the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.
