St Piers Residential Special School and College form part of Young Epilepsy, the national children and young people’s epilepsy charity is based in Lingfield, Surrey. We are part of a multi-disciplinary team which includes our Therapy and Health directorates as well as our pioneering onsite Research facility.

St Piers Residential Special School provides highly specialised education for children and young people from 5 – 19 years of age, primarily with Epilepsy, Autism, and severe learning difficulties. Set in stunning grounds, St Piers School offers all the latest facilities to help students grow in confidence and learn independence.

About the role:

In this role you will provide support to students with Epilepsy, Autism and a range of needs associated with severe learning difficulties, including sensory, physical and medical complexities.

You will be responsible for: 

  • Supporting students to enable them to access learning, using needs-specific, personalised approaches, both with 1:1 and group learning situations. 
  • Contributing to individual student records, reports, etc., in consultation with the Teacher and specialist staff. 
  • Attending and contributing to classroom, curriculum, staff and other meetings as appropriate 
  • Administration support essential to the smooth running of St Piers School 
  • Promoting high standards of hygiene and welfare for the students within the class 
  • Liaising with senior staff or designated safeguard leads as appropriate.

You will: 

  • Be passionate about working with and supporting children and young people. 
  • Be an effective communicator - both verbally and in writing 
  • Be able to work flexibly as well as be able to adapt to changing priorities and challenging situations effectively 
  • Have proven experience of working as an active team player as well as on your own initiative 
  • Have proven organisational and time management skills
