Thomas Tallis is a flourishing and popular school situated in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. We currently have 1930 pupils on the school roll with over 550 students in our highly competitive sixth form. We strive for excellence in all that we do underpinned by our vision of education to understand the world and change it for the better.
Due to an increase in requirements for next academic year, we wish to appoint a number of Education Assistants in the Deaf Support Centre. The ideal candidate will have a minimum requirement of BSL Level 2 or above. The candidate must be able to support deaf students in the mainstream class, ensuring lesson content is accessible to deaf learners.
This role will complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for learning activities under an agreed system of supervision for students within the DSC provision. This will involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals/groups and monitoring students and assessing, recording and reporting on students’ achievement, progress and development.
We are looking for someone who has:
• BSL Level 2 or above
• confidence, resilience with excellent communication and organisational skills
• experience of working with secondary age children and young people
• a professional, kind and calm manner

About Thomas Tallis School
Located in Kidbrooke, south-east London, Thomas Tallis School is a large co-educational secondary school providing places to pupils aged 11-18. The school was originally founded in 1971. In 2012 it moved into a brand-new purpose-built building on the site of a former airfield.
With capacity for around 2,000 students, Thomas Tallis is larger than the average secondary school. It operates a large sixth form, welcoming students who have come up through Thomas Tallis School, as well as pupils from other schools in the local area.
