Electrical Engineering Tutor

We are looking for someone to join our small team based at Selby College who has the passion and drive to share their knowledge and experience of electrical engineering with the next generation of engineers.  

We are looking for someone to deliver training and practical skills to a range of students on our engineering courses.  The focus for this role is electrical engineering and we need someone who has strong practical and theoretical skills and knowledge.

The person:

We are happy for this role to be filled either by a qualified teacher, or by someone who has experience of teaching, training or mentoring apprentices in the workplace.

What is critical to this role is the ability to communicate and impart knowledge of electrical engineering practice in industrial settings such as production or manufacturing.  Ideally, we would want someone from the food and drink industry or other ‘clean’ operations.

We are willing to appoint someone without a teaching qualification but in that case, it is a requirement that the successful candidate works towards a qualification within two years of commencing at the college.

Specific skills we are looking for:

• Installation of electrical equipment

• Commissioning and testing of equipment

• Electrical and electronic principles in an industrial environment

The role:

• Planning and delivering/teaching and assessing on a variety of courses within engineering particularly around the subject of electrical installation, commissioning and testing of electrical equipment, electrical and electronic principles. 

• Ensuring schemes of work are produced to meet the requirement of the course and consistent assessment procedures are continually maintained

• Preparation of assignments, internal test and examination papers

• Monitor, review and evaluate student progress. 

• Keep accurate records of students, student reviews, assessments and resource use and give feedback to employers/parents as required

Terms and conditions:

The role is 37 hours per week, with a salary range from £25 334 - £33 353.  

We may make a market forces payment for the ideal candidate who more than meets our requirements.

37 holidays per year, with extra days at Christmas and up to 10 days for academic study.
