The Emergency Health Department at Fatima College of Health Sciences http://www.fchs.ac.ae/En/Programs/Pages/Pharmacy.aspx whose main campus located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, is currently inviting applications from experienced senior teaching academics in Emergency Health.  By offering professional entry and higher education programs in emergency health, the College is the major contributor to the paramedic workforce and healthcare development in the UAE.

Established in 2006, Fatima College of Health Sciences (FCHS) aims to meet the United Arab Emirates' growing need for skilled healthcare professionals.  The College aligns with the country’s 2030 healthcare workforce vision and aims to be the major contributor to the sector.  FCHS is accredited by the Ministry of Education nationally and is internationally benchmarked through a number of Russell Group Universities in the United Kingdom. Aside from FCHS Emergency Health (Paramedic Science), FCHS offers undergraduate degrees in Nursing, Pharmacy, Radiography & Medical Imaging and Psychology.

Although the Bachelor of Emergency Health program is well established it is now entering an exciting period of growth as it expands existing operations in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain to the newly established Ajman campus. FCHS recently reviewed and re-engineered its curriculum to bring it in line with a modern international program. 

An academic vacancy exists to teach into the Bachelor of Emergency Health program.  Interested candidates will ideally hold a PhD in Emergency Health ( Paramedic Science) with a minimum of 2 years teaching experience within a tertiary setting and ideally four years clinical experience within a tertiary setting and ideally four years clinical experience within an area of pre-hospital and emergency medicine.

Applicants currently enrolled and completing PHD or master degree holders with international license and more than 10 years’ experience in the field of emergency medicine will also be considered for interview.

The Emergency Health Program embraces a curriculum with an emphasis on outcome competencies of the graduates. The FCHS curriculum, underpinned by a number of general education courses is patient focused and introduces the students to Paramedic Practice at an early stage and is enriched with a number of clinical courses. FCHS is committed to graduating students who will meet the country’s need for healthcare professionals who can provide safe, effective and quality service of the patients.

The role involves:

• Covering all teaching and learning activities (lectures, tutorials, workshops, labs, clinical sessions, etc.) as detailed in the curriculum

• Course coordination where required

• Designing and implementing assessment techniques appropriate to the course

• Contributing to curriculum review and development as required

• Scholarly research activity and publishing findings in peer reviewed journals as well as presenting at discipline related conferences

• Contributing to Departmental and Institutional committees as requested

• Participating in student clinical placement supervision as required

• Mentoring and advising students with career opportunities.
