We are welcoming applications for an Engineering Lecturer – Fabrication and Welding

The City of Liverpool College is the only general FE college in the city and the largest FE college in Liverpool City Region.

It offers the widest, most diverse vocational curriculum in the region and ranges from entry up to degree and post-graduate levels and currently serves more than a third of all the 16-18 year olds in Liverpool and educates almost 12,000 learners each year, with all courses being delivered to the highest standard of learning.

Staff at The City of Liverpool College are fundamental to help ensure the students at the college enjoy an experience like no other through gaining skills and being taught a diversity-rich curriculum which leaves students equipped with all they need to be successful, both in their chose career and beyond.

To ensure that the colleges high standards of teaching, learning and assessment are ensured, we are looking for high quality applicant for the following role:

 

Engineering Lecturer - Fabrication and Welding  

35 Hours per week 

£26,220 - £36,535

 

To contribute to achieving excellence in teaching and learning through innovative and excellent practice. You will be expected to create effective and stimulating learning opportunities for all students through high quality teaching, learning and assessment.

You will deliver teaching and learning on all levels, from Level 1 through to L5 and evening programmes, and offer current and relevant industry/practitioner skills. Your specialist area could be mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, design engineering or related fields. You should also have the ability to deliver practical sessions in Fabrication and Welding up to level 3.

You will be able to teach a range of professional engineering units. You will possess: theory, practical and assessing skills and be able to promote innovative work and the development of the professional engineering curriculum.

You will create effective and stimulating opportunities for all students through high quality teaching, learning and assessment that enables progression and development.

Opened in 1992 after being formed from a number of colleges in the city we now have 5 locations situated in the heart of Liverpool. Currently the college serves more than a third of all 16-18 year olds in Liverpool, and educates almost 12,000 learners a year. In 2018 the college achieved a pass rate of 99.6% beating the national average of 97.6% for a-level results. Within this year as well we had a 100% pass rate in modern languages.

However, the college itself is not just facts and figures. The mission statement of provide high quality skills and education by delivering opportunities for growth to all people and business of the Liverpool City region, shows inclusivity and a community understanding. The ease in which to get here helps quite a lot to. Be it driving, buses, trains or even a ferry you are never short of options. 

Being that working/living in Liverpool does offer a wide range of experiences to have. Historical buildings like the Bombed out church, Royal court theatre house or even a hidden gem like the Bluecoat School lane which boasts being the oldest building in Liverpool. The Beatles museum is a popular place to explore the band and possible find bits out about them you might not have known. Or if just unwinding and relaxing there are multiple pubs/bars, restaurants, and comedy nights to enjoy.
