Job overview

Are you interested in a new job, in a new school, with a new way of thinking for September 2021. We have an opportunity for an experienced English / Humanities Teacher to join us as our school grows to its full potential.

Northwood Senior opened in September 2020 as the fourth member of the Northwood Schools group. As a deliberately smaller school, it aims to offer an excellent secondary education in a more personal setting with an emphasis on equipping pupils with the skills and experiences they need to face their future with confidence. Alongside preparing for a wide range of GCCEs / IGCEs, we place great importance on well-being, community, and social responsibility and in building and bolstering confidence within a friendly and supportive community.

Initially working with children aged 11 - 13,  the successful candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in the design and creation of many aspects of school life and we are looking for an English / Humanities Teacher who will not only develop the Thematic Learning for the school, but who is keen to be involved in the setup of a new school. We are a small team of staff who work closely together to build a thriving community feel in the school, and the successful candidate will feed into and benefit from the strong collegiate environment.

Candidates for this position should have a proven track record of teaching children in key stages 3 & 4 and experience of either English or Humanities. They will also have an exemplary record of parent and pupil relationships, be highly organised and have a strong pastoral track record.

In return we offer an excellent pension scheme, free lunches during term time, subsidised private health care and our own salary scale which is above government pay rates.

Full details of the position are provided in the attached Candidate Information and are also available on the school’s website www.northwoodschools.com

A completed application form along with a covering letter should be submitted for the attention of Susan Brooks, Head Teacher, by 9am on Monday 6 December.

For an informal chat please email Tash McDonald, PA to the Head, t.mcdonald@northwoodschools.com

Shortlisted candidates will be expected to teach a lesson as well as being interviewed.

Northwood Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
