Slough and Eton has an exciting opportunity for a qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our excellent English as an Additional Language (EAL) team to take a leadership role in supporting our EAL students across the curriculum. The successful applicant will be experienced at providing additional support to students so they can achieve their very best. Over 60% of our students have English as an additional language and team benefits from great leadership from its Curriculum Leader.

This new post will involve coordinating the timetables and day to day management of the support assistants through briefing sessions at the start of the day (8am), taking classes such as ESOL and iGCSE groups as required and working alongside class teachers to maximise success for EAL students.

This position involves supporting in class as well as with small groups of students and sometimes 1:1. You will be expected to support students across Years 7 – 13. We think this is a great opportunity for someone interested in a career in teaching in the future and are keen to provide training to facilitate that for the right candidate.

Having HLTA status is essential. Experience or qualifications in working with EAL students is desirable but not essential as we will provide the necessary training. Candidates who have TEFL training or who are bilingual/multi-lingual would be at an advantage. In all cases a Level 2 qualification in both Maths and English is essential and Level 3/degree qualifications hugely desirable.

Slough and Eton is a great school on the outskirts of Slough, which serves the Chalvey community and we are relentlessly focused on ensuring great teaching, learning and experiences are at the core of what we do. It’s an exciting time for us and our students are a pleasure to work with.

If you are interested in finding out more then please read the welcome letter from our Headteacher and feel free to visit the school in advance of applying.

If you would like to contribute to our exciting future please contact our HR Advisor, Beverly Glanville for an application form using vacancies@slougheton.com or visit our website at www.slougheton.com in the vacancy section for further details and application pack.

CVs alone will not be accepted as a valid application.

We reserve the right to interview promising candidates prior to this date if applications are received early.

About Slough and Eton CE Business and Enterprise College

Slough and Eton is a great school and I am immensely proud to have joined it as Headteacher in September 2017.  Pupils and students at Slough and Eton are expected to work extremely hard and are encouraged to achieve their very best in all that they do.  As a result of their tremendous work ethic they achieve extremely well and we are very proud of them.  We believe in educating the whole child and as such place great importance on the many cultural experiences we provide for pupils and students as well as the academic ones.

As a Church of England school we welcome pupils from all faiths, foster a culture of tolerance and understanding throughout the school and are always delighted to show visitors the fantastic things that happen here.  We have a thriving and growing Sixth Form and enjoy using excellent facilities.  If you are interested in finding out more about our school then please do come and visit us.  I would be delighted to show you around, along with some pupils and give you the opportunity to talk informally with some staff about what it is like to work at the school.

Mr Peter Collins

Headteacher
