Job overview

Required from September 2018, we are looking to recruit a successful English Teacher and Assistant Faculty Leader who has the ability, drive and commitment to become a future leader as well.

You will be someone who is passionate about giving young people enhanced life chances through your inspirational teaching and dynamic leadership. You will be eager for the challenge of making sure that our English provision and outcomes at Key Stage 3 are second to none.  You will ensure that English learning at Key Stage 3 is informed by students’ experiences at Key Stage 2; you will be proactive and have high expectations; be a creative thinker and have the ability to work effectively with the whole team to enhance student outcomes at GCSE and beyond.

The Brookvale Groby Learning Campus is a highly successful collaboration of two schools sharing the same site. Brookvale High School is an ‘outstanding’ 11-14 high school and Groby Community College is 14-19 upper school graded as ‘good with outstanding features’ in its last Ofsted. Together, the campus meets the educational needs of 1600 students with nearly 400 at Post 16.

The Brookvale Groby Learning Campus is undergoing an exciting period of change, and became a Multi Academy Trust on 1 April 2017.  The schools have a strong ethos of valuing everyone and achieving excellence for all including the professional development of our staff.

The team within the English Faculty works enthusiastically and energetically in a continual effort to get the best out of all students regardless of their abilities.  We organise our classes predominantly by ability whilst retaining our focus on challenging and stretching all students: we continually reappraise practice, thinking creatively about new approaches.  Most recently we have focused upon how to use questions in a continually challenging way, how to develop greater independence, and develop critical thinking.  All approaches and resources are shared with each other and we have regular faculty meetings to share ideas and discuss teaching and learning strategies.  Meeting with students outside of class is a natural extension of our work with them.

The Brookvale Groby Learning Campus has been through a period of significant change having converted to a multi academy trust in 2017 and a merger to an 11-19 school from September 2019.  Our founding schools were Brookvale High School, an ‘outstanding’ 11-14 high school, and Groby Community College a 14-19 upper school graded as ‘good with outstanding features’.  Now, as a united campus, we meet the educational needs of over 1500 students with over 300 of those enrolled in our Post 16 provisions.

Our Vision is “Valuing Everyone, Achieving Excellence”, and we are committed to supporting the professional learning of all our staff
