Job overview

Do you want to be part of a transformational team at one of the country’s fastest improving schools?

We are a rapidly improving school and have a relentless focus on high standards in all that we do.

We have a strong and growing reputation in our local community for high expectations and high standards, and as a result in 2018 and 2019 we have received a record number of first choice applications for Year 7. Our most recent Ofsted inspection highlighted this transformation across the school.

The Albion Academy is located in the heart of Salford just 2 miles from Manchester City Centre. We provide high quality education to 11-16-year olds from across the City. We are proud of our modern building with excellent facilities which were designed with learning and development in mind.

An ambition for success for all our students lies at the heart of everything we do. This is underpinned by our core values of ambition, respect and determination.

We are looking to appoint enthusiastic and talented staff who relish the opportunity to work in a fast-paced and innovative environment, making a significant difference to the lives of our students.

It is an exciting time to be a member of staff at The Albion Academy. If you’d like to join us on our mission, please come and visit us – we’d be delighted to welcome you.

The Role

Are you an experienced English teacher looking for a position of leadership within a warm, friendly and rapidly improving school?

The Albion Academy is looking to appoint a well-qualified and dynamic teacher to lead the schools highly regarded English department. This is a rare opportunity for the right person to lead a team of enthusiastic teachers to build an exceptional English faculty.

Our School

We can offer you a school where we are proud to teach a knowledge-rich curriculum and you will receive excellent CPD to develop your subject pedagogy and classroom management. You will have access to the highest quality, collaboratively planned schemes of work and lesson resources. We are rapidly improving and aim to guarantee disruption free learning in EVERY lesson by the time you start in September. We have a highly supportive and hands-on SLT who take responsibility for creating a calm and respectful ethos.

We have a dedicated team of Heads of Year and non-teaching pastoral and SEN staff who work with SLT and teachers to support pupils to be their best. We also have an excellent co-curricular programme which helps our students grow and develop into rounded individuals.

Potential candidates are warmly invited to visit the school in advance of submitting an application. Alternatively, candidates are encouraged to contact us for an informal discussion with the Principal.

United Learning

Albion Academy is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.
