Located in the Rhine valley between Heidelberg, Mannheim, Stuttgart and Strasbourg, the European School Karlsruhe has a remarkable location in one of the most dynamic regions of Europe. Nearly 1,000 pupils attend our school. Its campus, easily accessible and well connected by public transport, benefits from a green and wooded environment which is quite exceptional.

The European Schools are official educational establishments controlled jointly by the governments of the Member States of the European Union. In all these countries they are legally regarded as public institutions. There are currently 13 European Schools in 6 countries (www.eursc.eu)

The European Schools’ curriculum combines modern approaches to education across Europe based on the eight key competences for lifelong learning. Our international education curriculum is recognized throughout the European Union as equivalent to the national systems. This makes it easy for pupils to transfer in and out at any stage of their education.

We require for 1st September 2018, an experienced teacher of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) to European Baccalaureate level (A-Level), also being qualified to teach English mother tongue would be an asset, for the secondary school. Applicants must have a B.Ed., PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification. Experience in international schools would be an advantage. The position involves a minimum of 15 hours of teaching to all secondary levels.

The successful candidate will be working under the authority of the Director of the European School, in a multi-lingual, multi-cultural environment, in a school with an outstanding academic record.

About European School Karlsruhe

The European School Karlsruhe was founded in 1962. We are one of fourteen European Schools established since 1953.

We provide mother-tongue education — in different language sections — from Kindergarten up to European Baccalaureate level (university entrance) for around 900 pupils from a wide variety of European and other backgrounds.

We are a few kilometres north of Karlsruhe city centre, in an open setting, with an excellent system of public transport and school trams and buses providing easy access for pupils from a large area around Karlsruhe.

Pupils are enrolled in one of the three language sections - English, French, German, - so most pupils will receive most of their education in their mother tongue. Children start learning their first foreign language as soon as they join the primary school.

The European Baccalaureate is recognised as a qualification for university entrance by all member states of the European Union and by other countries including the USA.
