We are seeking to appoint a strong, qualified English teacher to carry out intervention, both one-to-one and to small groups, outside the classroom. The successful candidate will work with students across Key Stages 3 and 4 who have been identified as most in need of additional English support.
This role will involve helping students achieve their potential in AQA English Language GCSE and AQA English Literature GCSE. The successful candidate will work closely with our excellent English department.

- A strong classroom practitioner with a proven track record of delivering good and outstanding progress with excellent organisational skills.
- Someone who is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Someone who is confident in their ability to engage with, inspire and motivate students to achieve their best.
Highfields is a vibrant, oversubscribed school and has a strong partnership with the community and local schools. It is a co-educational comprehensive school of over 1,300 students, including 200 at post 16. Our students are well-motivated and the school’s academic results are good and improving.

About Highfields School
Highfields School is a vibrant, popular, mixed, non-denominational, mainstream secondary school in Matlock, Derbyshire. It caters to students aged 11 to 18 and has approximately 1,200 students including 250 at post 16. Our students are well-motivated and achieve good results. We were judged as a good school by Ofsted in May 2017. Highfields is situated in Matlock, the county town of Derbyshire, on the south eastern edge of the beautiful Peak District National Park. It is within easy reach of Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham.
Highfields School was founded in 1982 when Ernest Bailey’s Grammar School and Charles White Secondary Modern School merged. It is known for performing arts. The school is located on two sites that are 1.8 miles apart: one for the lower school (Years 7-8) and one for the upper school (Years 9-11 and the sixth form).
