The French International School in Hong Kong is recruiting for an English teacher to work in the French Secondary Stream from September 2022. 

Established in 1964, the French International School (FIS) is the oldest international school in Hong Kong. It is a dynamic educational institution, which welcomes over 2,600 students from around the world. It offers both French and British-style curricula and is the largest French school in Asia. 

FIS is a private, not-for-profit organization. In the last five decades, it has grown from a small school with 35 students to one of the most renowned international schools in the region. Its students are from 40 countries speaking some 30 languages – it is a truly multicultural learning environment. 


FIS operates two streams, French and International, under an overall Headmaster appointed by the AEFE. The French Stream follows a French curriculum and has approximately 2000 students. The International Stream follows a curriculum broadly based on the English national curriculum leading to IGCSE and then the International Baccalaureate in Years 12 and 13. It currently has approximately 642 students registered. 


The American section of the International Option of the French Baccalaureate (OIB) combines the breadth and rigor of the French Baccalaureate with extra subjects taught and examined in English, resulting in a bilingual, bicultural diploma. Students in the OIB program have the opportunity to take English language and literature and history and geography courses taught from an American perspective by certified anglophone teachers.

The English Department at FIS is composed of 14 teachers from 7 different nationalities working together to help the students achieve academic excellence in a nurturing environment. 

Job Position

• Full-time position teaching 20 periods per week (55 minute periods)

• Teaching responsibilities could include the English Language and Literature component of the American Section (Section Internationale Américaine), drama, or ESL.

We are seeking teachers who are:

• Well qualified with an internationally accepted degree and teaching qualification from an anglophone country; priority will be given to teachers with a degree in literature.

• Native level speakers of English, or C2 level.

• Dynamic, forward-looking professional with the experience and skills to contribute to a dynamic faculty; 

• Passionate about learning and teaching and set high expectations for every student; 

• Able to work collaboratively with a team of teachers;

• Internationally-minded and culturally sensitive;

• Committed to fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

• Able and willing to teach both Middle and High School level (6th to 12th Grades) 

• Experienced and qualified in teaching English as a foreign language

It is a dynamic educational institution, which welcomes over 2,700 students from around the world. It offers both French and international curricula and is one of the largest French schools in Asia.

FIS currently operates four campuses, next year all of which will accommodate students in the International Stream. Regarding the three primary schools, one is surrounded by greenery in Jardine’s Lookout and another campus is by the sea in Tseung Kwan O and the third is a beautiful campus in Chai Wan

The International Stream follows an English and Mathematics curriculum based on the English national curriculum and also the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC)  and International Primary Curriculum (IPC) leading to the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) in years 7 and 8, then to IGCSE and finally the International Baccalaureate in Years 12 and 13. It currently has over 1000 students registered. In 2020/21 the international stream successfully went through the IEYC/IPC Accreditation process.
