About Hertford Regional College

Hertford Regional College is the largest college in the area and offers the widest range of courses available.

Around 12,000 full or Part-time students chose to study at the College last year and although many of our students come from the immediate area, the reputation of the College also draws students from further afield.

During the year there are many different types of students studying at the College.

  • Studying Full-time Further Education courses
  • Studying Higher Education courses
  • On day-release from their employers
  • Attending college to gain qualifications to enable them to be better qualified at work
  • Retraining for a new career
  • Attending just because they want to learn

We are an Associate College of the University of Hertfordshire and have strong links with employers in the area. Our tutors are well qualified, often with current or recent experience of working in the subject they are teaching, and are focused on helping students to achieve success. Our success rates are above the national average for colleges.

There are opportunities to progress from “starter” courses to more advanced courses at either of the main College centres in Ware and Broxbourne or at other community centres. You can study Full-time or Part-time – during the day, in the evening and on Saturdays. The College provides just the right atmosphere to enable you to learn and study in an adult environment amongst others of your own age with the same interests and aspirations as yourself. College students in a recent Ofsted inspection praised the “friendly and supportive staff”.

The main College centres are in Ware and Broxbourne and there are also the smaller NextStep centres in Waltham Cross and Bishop's Stortford. Part-time courses are offered at these centres plus numerous other venues, such as schools and community centres, throughout Broxbourne and East Herts.

Amongst the top-class facilities you will find when you come to the College are:

  • Well equipped Learning Resource Centres containing numerous books and periodicals, PCs and other learning tools
  • Over 700 PCs around the College either in open plan workshops, learning areas, or classrooms
  • A TV Studio
  • Workshops and laboratories
  • A refectory and shop offering drinks and snacks
  • A large student centre
  • A 40 seat licensed restaurant
  • Specialist hairdressing and beauty therapy salons.
