What we are looking for:

Our Kindergarten is seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Years Educator to join our team starting as soon as possible. We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a degree in Early Childhood Education or a teaching degree with a focus on primary education
  • Preferably have experience working in academic kindergartens or schools
  • Be a native-level English speaker
  • Possess extra qualifications, such as a nursing degree or musical studies, which would be an advantage.

As an Early Year Educator in our Kindergarten, your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and implementing lessons and daily routines in accordance with the ISR program of instruction, while collaborating with colleagues on a daily and weekly basis. This will involve teaching subjects such as English (phonics, language, handwriting), Mathematics, Social Emotional Learning, Mindful Motoric Movement, Arts and Crafts, Music, and Science Projects, using a variety of instructional approaches such as songs, stories, media, structured games, art, and outdoor activities to motivate and stimulate the learning of each child.
  • Assessing the progress of each student, monitoring their development, strengths, and areas for further growth, assessing their performance and progress on a regular basis, documenting findings, and planning interventions to support their learning environment.
  • Managing the learning environment by designing and setting it up at the beginning of the academic year, guiding the learning of a group of approximately 20 children, creating a harmonious and engaging learning environment, establishing rules and procedures, and complying with standards of instruction and health and safety regulations as stated by ISR and local authorities.
  • Communicating with colleagues by participating in weekly meetings with the Head of Kindergarten to review current KG issues, participating in weekly meetings with the group/team for lesson planning, reflection, and sharing resources, communicating frequently with teaching assistants regarding the expectations for the group, and informing the Head of Kindergarten of any incident or accident that occurs within your group.
  • Communicating with parents by creating and maintaining an open and trustful line of communication with parents, providing appropriate information, meeting parents twice a year for Parent-Educator Conferences, participating in meetings arranged by the Director or Head of Kindergarten with parents, and preparing KG Times on a weekly basis to communicate the skills developed by the children.
  • Directing Kindergarten Early Year Assistants to ensure a high level of tidiness and cleanliness of the environment, creating educational displays, games, and visual materials, guiding EYAs in creating bulletin boards that correspond with topics and group work, and supervising outdoor play.

About ISR International School on the Rhine

ISR International School on the Rhine is a co-educational international school located in the Rhineland region of Germany. The school provides places to around 1040 students aged 3-18, and occupies a large single campus. The curriculum at ISR has a primarily international focus, with a strong German theme. Younger students in the school’s Primary and Lower Secondary schools receive an international education, with a particular focus on English and German-language instruction; the school blends the Cambridge curriculum with selected aspects of other international curricula to ensure a holistic education. When students move into Upper Secondary, they will begin their journey toward IGCSE examinations. Older students can spend their final two years at ISR studying for the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Teaching information

New teachers at ISR are given a two-week training programme in August, in order to familiarise themselves with the school and its network. Teachers are expected to hold an undergraduate degree in their chosen specialist teaching subjects, as well as an accredited teaching qualification such as a postgraduate diploma.
