Gore High School, located in Southland is seeking an exceptional English teacher with experience at senior levels, to take on the position of Assistant Head of Department from January 2018 as a preference although April by negotiation will be considered for the right candidate. This permanent role will have additional responsibilities as the successful applicant will be acting Head of Department (fixed term for 2018), then revert to an Assistant HoD.

The school has a boarding facility to cater for those students from further afield. With a roll of around 500 students, the school is large enough to provide a wide curriculum, including a thriving English department, while having the ability to know each student.

The English Department comprises of 4 full time passionate teachers, who inspire a love of English, and also the ability to engage students in this subject area. This innovative department operates out of 4 learning spaces, (2 traditional classrooms and 2 modern learning environment spaces) and is a collaborative and supportive team with a culture of sharing plans, resources ideas and challenges.

Gore is a small, friendly, rural New Zealand town of around 10,000 people and close proximity to many beautiful South Island attractions. A day trip to Dunedin, Invercargill and weekends at the ski-fields around Queenstown are only a couple of hours drive away. The school serves both the town of Gore and the surrounding rural areas, and the low cost of living in the region makes this a popular choice for families.
