Job overview

The Learn Academy (TLA) is an international school in the centre of Barcelona delivering the British Curriculum to students in the final three years of school (years 11,12 and 13/ Grade 10, 11 and 12). We are a unique school with a strong and close community where every student is recognised, valued and appreciated. We are a small team of committed and passionate teachers who love what we do. Our class sizes are very small (usually between 3 and 8 students) and we are looking for someone who wants to become a valuable member of our close knit community.

We are looking to hire an English Literature and Language GCSE teacher and an English Literature A Level teacher for a September 2022 start.

Suitable candidates will possess:

  • Teaching degree
  • A minimum of two years’ classroom experience
  • GCSE and/or A Level experience necessary. For example, if the teacher has taught GCSE, but not yet A Levels this would be okay if the teacher has a passion for exploring the A Level curriculum

* We would consider teachers who have American Diploma or IB experience, who are willing to learn and deliver the British Curriculum

  • Preference given to teachers who have the ability to teach one (or more) other subject from the following options: history, geography, biology, chemistry, physics, art
  • Currently living in Spain, or someone who has the legal requirements to live and work in Spain
  • A commitment to the safeguarding of all children

What we offer:

  • A friendly and supportive team
  • Very small class sizes
  • Competitive salary
  • Flexible working conditions (half days, 4 day work weeks)
  • Part time or full time contract, depending on the candidate and the subject/s they would like to teach
  • Location in the centre of Barcelona, close to many cafes and shops
  • Teachers are welcomed to initiative and run any clubs they feel would add to the experience of our students, however it is not a requirement to be involved in extracurricular activities

Applicants should:

  • Possess the ability to inspire students to love learning through passion for their subject
  • Be able to effectively differentiate lessons to reach all learners
  • Be kind, empathetic and enjoy working in a close community of teachers, parents and students
  • Be organised and motivated
  • Enjoy providing  feedback to help students improve and achieve their goals
  • Be excited about the idea of working in a slightly unconventional school who are really here to do things differently
  • Enjoy taking initiative and suggesting improvements to our teaching and learning programmes, school life or possible trips and excursions we could take
