We are looking for a dynamic, ambitious and energetic teacher who can motivate and inspire pupils across both Key Stage 3 and 4, with a proven track record in raising standards of attainment and achievement, to join our forward-thinking English Department.
The successful candidate will have excellent classroom practice, be committed to high standards of learning and student progress with the energy and vision to build on current progress and have ambitions for themselves and our school.
Results for English Language and Literature have been significantly above National figures for progress and attainment over the past three years. The department is well established, with 13 members of staff, a number of which are part-time. All staff deliver across the full subject and ability range. Within the team there is a Head of English, Second in English and a member of the department with responsibility for Intervention, as well as a specialist Literacy Teaching Assistant.
This is a full-time, one year contract to start in September 2021. For an exceptional candidate there is the possibility that this could become a permanent post.
The school
Penryn College is a lively thriving college with an excellent reputation who cater for boys and girls aged between 11 and 16 years with a current number on roll of 1150 and we pride ourselves on offering the very best for our students.
In 2008 we moved into our £24 million pound new school building, which has a wide range of resources. We have an information rich environment, state of the art sporting facilities including a 6 badminton court size sports hall, the latest generation astro turf pitch, our own climbing wall and every student has been issued with an iPad to support their independent learning.
Our College buildings and 10 acres of grounds are used extensively by the community for adult education courses, sporting activities, performances and fund raising activities. Our unique relationship with surrounding primary schools - known as the "Penryn Partnership" - helps primary children to settle in to the college whilst adjusting to their new environment.
