 The University Collegiate School are seeking an outstanding English Teacher to join our dedicated team at the University Collegiate School (UCS), Bolton. This is an exciting opportunity to teach English at Key Stage 3-5 and make a significant impact on the lives of our student, shaping their love of reading and driving outstanding outcomes. 

Our new state-of-the-art facilities are set to open in September 25, providing an inspiring environment for both students and staff. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Deliver engaging and effective English lessons to Key Stage 3-5 pupils 
  • Promote a love of learning and intellectual curiosity in your pupils 
  • Set and mark homework to consolidate and extend pupils' knowledge and understanding 
  • Contribute to the design and provision of an engaging English curriculum 
  • Adapt your teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils 
  • Make effective use of assessment to monitor progress and plan subsequent lessons 
  • Maintain good relationships with pupils and manage behaviour effectively 


Requirements: 

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent 
  • Excellent subject knowledge and understanding of the English curriculum 
  • Experience teaching English at Key Stage 3-5 level 
  • Ability to differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all pupils 
  • Strong behaviour management skills and a commitment to creating a positive learning environment 


Desirable Qualities: 

  • Enthusiasm for extra-curricular activities and a willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Commitment to continuous professional development

The UCS is a University Technical College encompassing Key Stage 3 and 4, along with a sixth form provision.

The UCS has an outstanding facility for 11 to 19 year olds which includes specialist laboratories. Our facilities uniquely inspire and motivate our students to succeed in their studies and propel their careers forward.

To accommodate the growing student numbers, a new £17million extension is underway and is scheduled to open in September 2025, along with our Multi Use Games Area which opened in September 2024, providing an incredible space for our students and the local community to engage in a wide range of sports and activities. This fantastic addition reflects our commitment to promoting health, well-being, and inclusivity.
