Job overview

Our school

The Brit-Magyar (British-Hungarian) school is a private foundation school which recently opened in September 2020 in Budapest. The main founders of the school are British and Hungarian with extensive experience in international education. Our vision is to be Hungary’s leading elementary and middle school through a passion for progressive teaching methodology and by providing a broad-based education so students become complete global citizens. We utilise a combination of the local state bilingual curriculum as well as an English curriculum based on the Cambridge International programme. Our curriculum will be supported by all the best learning materials and facilities.

Our staff

At the core of our programme is the need to have the most enthused and talented teaching staff. We plan to have a strong in-house Professional Development programme for teachers which will run throughout the year for all teachers with one-to-one coaching and group learning. The benefit for staff of a start-up school is that you have the opportunity to help shape and develop our curriculum, teaching methodologies and best educational practices. Our culture is very consensual and we make decisions and plans through discussion.

The Position

To support the growth of our student base, we need to recruit a highly talented teacher to our team. A teacher with the following experience, skills and attributes is preferred:

  • Fully qualified teacher with at least 4 years teaching experience with KS1 and/or KS2 students
  • Experience of teaching ESL
  • Fluent English speaker
  • Practiced in teaching the curriculum for England
  • International teaching experience would be preferred
  • High level of positive energy and a strong desire for personal development

What we offer

Budapest is a wonderful city with a cost of living 40% lower than a typical UK city. We offer an excellent salary package and training support. Please send your CV, your qualifications and an explanation why you might be suitable for this position.

About Brit-Magyar Bilingual School

We hope that our website and this information will give you a taste of our school to help you decide if Brit-Magyar is for you. It is a very exciting time to join us because as a new, developing school you will have opportunities to contribute to the educational model and to be creative in developing a Hungarian / International curriculum. You will gain an understanding of the Hungarian Education System, the Hungarian National curriculum, the Cambridge International curriculum and using your experience, help to build a unique program that integrates all of these.

As a Hungarian state registered school, we follow the public-school system. However, unlike other bilingual schools in Hungary, we have a diverse staff body, with members originating from Hungary, UK, USA, Canada and South Africa. All of these practitioners influence our pedagogy, our curriculum and our ethos. This has resulted in us creating something very special and unique.

Hungarian, Chinese, American, British, South African, Danish, Russian and Malaysian nationals currently represent our student body, supporting our international ethos and vision to nurture our children to become global citizens.

Our school currently has grades 1-7 with grade 8 opening in September 2024. In the same year we will open the High School that offers grades 9 to 12. So, you will join a small family of friendly children, supportive colleagues and parents, where you will quickly be made to ‘feel at home’ and part of our community.
