Job overview

Pangbourne College is looking to recruit an Estates Bursar who is experienced in the building industry, estate management or related sector in a professional capacity.  Holding a recognised industry qualification, candidates must be capable of producing plans, writing detailed specifications and project managing small works as well as managing much larger building projects.  

You will be confident in working with and managing architects, local planners, building companies and other trades.   

You will be line manager for both our Works and Grounds departments, where you will be responsible for developing a maintenance strategy for our existing school buildings, grounds and houses, ensuring that pupil welfare, health and safety and budget criteria is met in all areas.    

This position is offered on a full-time, all year round basis, reporting directly to the Bursar. A recognised qualification is essential for this role, whilst previous experience within an education environment would be an advantage. 

A competitive salary will be offered to the successful candidate dependent on skills and experience.  Benefits include, free parking, lunch and a contributory pension scheme.

We are also on the mainline rail network between Oxford (30 minutes) and London Paddington (45 minutes). Daily school transport services are available from Ascot, Basingstoke, Henley/Wargrave, Maidenhead, Newbury and Wantage.

In November 2019, the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) rated the college as ‘Excellent’ for both the academic and personal development of its pupils. It said: ‘Pupils demonstrate exemplary attitudes to learning: they respond to academic challenge with energy and purpose.’
