The role

Emanuel School is looking for an Estates Operative to join us on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop a career in estates management.

As an Estates Operative, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Estates Department. Your duties will include setting up for school events, assisting with porterage duties, carrying out minor maintenance and repairs, and supporting statutory compliance testing such as legionella monitoring and fire alarm checks. You will also act as a key holder, taking responsibility for unlocking and locking the premises to ensure the security of the school.

A full, clean driving licence is essential, along with a willingness to act as a minibus driver and to undertake various other transport-related tasks. You will be physically capable of meeting the demands of the role, have a practical understanding of estates and maintenance work, and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Welcome to Emanuel

We are a vibrant, fully co-educational school of over 1,100 pupils aged 10–18, supported by more than 200 dedicated teaching and support staff. Emanuel is a community driven by aspiration, connection and empathy: our pupils, colleagues, and families share a commitment to excellence, personal growth, and lifelong learning.

Our latest ISI Inspection report included the rare accolade of a Significant Strength, awarded for our Life Education stating: ‘Pupils develop self-knowledge and empathy, beyond what is expected for their age.’

Our ambition is further reflected in our consistently strong academic outcomes. In 2025 and 2026, the school achieved recording-breaking outcomes at GCSE with6, over 40% of GCSE grades were awarded the top grade 9 and over 70% at 9–8.. At A Level, the picture is similar with 90% of  grades at A*-B and over 90% of students achieving places at Russell Group and top tier universities. Emanuel is now recognised as one of the leading fully co-educational schools in the country.

Our aspirations extend far beyond the classroom. We nurture talent in every field, with a deep commitment to sport, the arts, and STEM. We invest significantly in our facilities, including a £30 million STEM and Refectory building currently to be completed in 2027, which will provide state-of-the-art science labs, maths classrooms, and vibrant social spaces. Our creative arts provision has earned national recognition, including the Independent School of the Year for Performing Arts (2023), while our work in Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion won the Talk Education Award (2024). In 2025 we were shortlisted for Independent School of the Year for Student Wellbeing, and in 2026 highly commended for our work on pupil voice.

Connection lies at the heart of Emanuel life.
