Are you a passionate and skilled chef looking for a rewarding opportunity in a dynamic school catering environment? Buckswood School is seeking an experienced Chef to join our catering team, ensuring excellent service and high-quality food for our students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Catering Manager in the smooth operation of the kitchen.
• Oversee the closing of the kitchen and dining area to ensure cleanliness and safety.
• Manage kitchen administration, HACCP documentation, and compliance with food safety regulations.
• Prepare and cook meals to specification, ensuring budget compliance and minimal waste.
• Provide a chef presence during meal service to enhance the dining experience.
• Conduct regular fridge and storage checks to maintain hygiene and compliance.
• Ensure a clean and hygienic kitchen in accordance with COSHH regulations and the Food Safety Act.
• Order provisions efficiently, manage stock checks, and maintain equipment inventories.
• Assist in implementing all school policies and procedures, particularly regarding Health & Safety and Safeguarding.
• Report accidents and near accidents in line with school policies.
• Ensure the maintenance of all kitchen and school equipment.

What We’re Looking For:

• Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Cooking and Food Preparation or 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of allergens and food safety regulations
• Experience in stock control and ordering is desirable.
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to make quick decisions.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
• Good communication skills and ability to interact at all levels.
• Experience in a similar catering environment is desirable.

• Week 1: Monday to Friday, 2:30 PM – 8:30 PM
• Week 2: Wednesday to Friday, 2:30 PM – 8:30 PM, plus full-day shifts on Saturday and Sunday
• Contract: permanent, all year around
