Rivers Academy West London is a co-educational, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form in Feltham, Greater London. The school became an Aspirations Academy in 2013, joining a small group of schools operated by the Aspirations Academies Trust.

In September 2015, a Space Studio School for 14- to 18-year-olds, specialising in science and maths, was opened on the Rivers Academy campus. At its most recent inspection there were 1,100 students aged 11-18 on the school roll, including 168 in the sixth form.

Values and vision

As a result of outstanding teaching, an engaging curriculum, personalised pastoral care and excellent extra-curricular opportunities, students at Rivers Academy are better qualified, more confident and articulate than ever before. This is crucial as the competition for post-16 courses, apprenticeships, jobs and university places intensifies annually. Staff enjoy knowing that students leave well prepared for successful future careers with excellent qualifications, high levels of self-esteem, confidence and the skills necessary to thrive in a very competitive world.

Each post-16 student has an academic mentor, with whom they meet daily and who supports them through the undeniable demands and challenges of post-16 study. Around 85% of Year 13 students embark on university courses, many at the highly competitive Russell Group universities.

Ofsted report

“Students are encouraged to believe that they can achieve high standards and make excellent progress. Consequently, they set themselves high aspirations. They are supported to make good choices and are, therefore, well prepared for the next stage of their lives.”  “Staff value the exceptional training opportunities provided to them by the school. Staff regularly attend courses run in school to improve teaching and learning, and are involved in mentoring and coaching programmes. Training is carefully matched to meet teachers’ needs.”
