THE ROLE  

Are you seeking flexible work? The core examination period for GSCEs is between May and June but we also have regular assessment windows in November, January, February, March and July to track the progress of our pupils. 

Exams take place in the morning and the afternoon allowing for the flexibility of half day or full day Invigilation.  You would need to be able to commit to either 8am - 1pm or/and 1pm - 4.30pm. 

Examination Invigilators are responsible for maintaining the security of the examination question papers at all times and conducting examinations in accordance with examination board regulations. 

They help to ensure the right candidates are in the right place.  They give out vital information such as start and finish times for exams and ensure that candidates have the materials and information they need.  Working as a team, Examination Invigilators contribute to ensuring a calm environment for exams and giving candidates confidence. 

Applicants must be able to work calmly under pressure and have a flexible attitude. Applicants must also be reliable, conscientious and responsible along with demonstrating communication, numeracy and literacy skills. The role is on a zero hours contract, with flexible hours paying £9.50 per hour inclusive of holiday pay. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES  

A successful candidate would work with the Exams Officer to ensure that 

● The exam hall is set up correctly, according to exam regulations, and papers distributed  correctly 

● The students are seated in accordance with the seating plan 

● The correct exam procedures are adhered to at all times 

● Invigilators are vigilant and observe students sitting the exam to ensure they are not  
communicating or disrupting others 

●    After the examination, all papers are collated correctly for return to the examinations office 

PERSON SPECIFICATION 

We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who are:  

● Reliable, punctual and hard-working 

● Professional and well-organised 

● Good communicators 

● Calm, with common sense, and pay attention to detail 

● Available to work flexible hours 

● Willing to apply for a DBS 

● Previous experience would be an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be  
provided
