Job overview

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and well-qualified Examinations Officer to join the Upper School during the summer term 2018 ideally, or soon after. The Examinations Officer is responsible for the administration and organisation of all aspects of external examinations and the training and management of examination invigilators. We anticipate that this role may subsume administration of internal and entrance examinations in due course.

The Examinations Officer works closely with the Deputy Head (Academic), Head of Sixth Form, Heads of Department, the Learning Support Department in particular, and of course all other staff and students involved in examinations, providing support and guidance to ensure the smooth running of all aspects encompassed by this role.

The post will be full time in term time, with extra agreed days in the school holidays, with additional flexibility required to suit the needs of the department. The salary will be commensurate with the post and will depend upon qualifications and experience.

A willingness to contribute to the wider life of a busy co-educational boarding and day school may be an advantage.

About Clifton College - Upper School

Clifton College leads the way as one of the best Public Boarding Schools in the country. We offer day places, flexi and full boarding places. Welcoming boys and girls from 2 to 18, Clifton becomes the school every pupil needs it to be, preparing them for life in the real world, not in a ‘bubble’. We are known for academic excellence, myriad opportunities, state of the art facilities, superb pastoral care and expert staff who deliver the very best learning and development. We provide a richly diverse and connected school environment, representative of the real world. Our pupils mature into individuals who are ambitious, open-minded and spirited.

Bristol businessman Dr John Percival, who championed the benefits of science, diversity and the education of women, founded Clifton College in 1862. The College has since fostered the talents of students including General Douglas Haig and Olympic hockey gold medallist Lily Owsley. The NSPCC had its first meeting on the school’s grounds.

Clifton College Upper School is housed in historical buildings, such as the Grade II-listed Percival Library, but it boasts state-of-the-art sporting facilities, including 24 tennis courts and an Olympic-standard hockey pitch.
