Doha Academy (Al Waab branch) is looking to recruit from mid-August 2023 an experienced Examinations Officer with the main function of overseeing the administration of the school’s IGCSE and A Level examinations. 

This crucial role requires an individual with excellent organisational and communication skills. We offer Year 10 – 12 students three exam sittings per year – November, January, and April to June.

The successful applicant will be given a light teaching load, so needs to be a qualified Secondary school teacher (any subject, but the ability to teach English is an advantage). 

Specifics of the role include:

  • Ongoing communication with students and parents regarding exam entries, including examination advice / counseling as required;
  • Examination entry registration with our external examination boards;
  • Coordination with the school’s finance department regarding examination fees;
  • Chief liaison with our external examination boards (enquiries, receipt of information etc.), and managing the exam centre accounts;
  • The scheduling of both internal and external examinations in the Secondary school;
  • With the Head of Centre, ensuring that examinations are appropriately conducted, and that all examination rules are followed;
  • Maintenance of the examinations office including safe storage of exam materials;
  • Post-examination oversight including oversight of all administrative paperwork and the safe dispatch of papers;
  • Preparing official transcripts for students.
  • Providing required training to staff to ensure the correct administration of all examinations.


Required skills:

 

  • In-depth knowledge of IGCSE and A Level syllabi and specifications;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English (the ability to communicate in Arabic is an advantage);
  • Excellent scheduling, organizational, and time-management skills;
  • A committed team player;
  • Ability to work well under pressure;
  • Flexibility and understanding that the role demands some out of hours work including during weekends and potentially holidays according to the external examination schedules;
  • Computer and internet literacy;
  • Confidence and strong personality.


Required qualifications / experience:

 

  • BA degree qualified and PGCE or equivalent;
  • Experience teaching British curriculum;
  • Prior experience as an Examinations Officer.
