Job overview

The Kingston Academy seeks an Exams and Data Officer to work under the direction of the Assistant Head and take responsibility for ensuring that external and internal examination processes are managed accurately and efficiently.  The successful candidate will also contribute towards the definition of the school policy on examinations and keep the policies under review and up-to-date.  These duties would be combined with a data management and analysis role working closely with our existing Data Manager.

The successful candidate for this role will join us at an exciting stage in our development.  Our recent Ofsted inspection in May this year was hugely positive, judging the school to be Outstanding in all categories and identifying no areas requiring improvement.  The project to build a large modern extension with state-of-the-art STEM facilities to house our growing school is nearing completion.  The addition of a new Year 7 intake in September 2018 has brought total pupil numbers to over 700, whilst our original History Makers, entering in Year 10, are starting their KS4 studies.  In addition, planning for the development of our Sixth Form has begun in earnest.

Prospective candidates are very welcome to come for an informal visit to the school prior to submitting their application.  An assistant head teacher would be happy to meet with you and tell you about the school and our journey so far.  You can contact the school office on 0208 465 6200 to arrange a suitable time.However, please do not feel that you will be disadvantaged in any sense if you choose not to.

To apply for this role, please complete the online application form.

Assessment Procedure

Our selection procedure will aim to identify with rigour whether the candidate fulfills the requirements of the post and will include the consideration of the candidate’s suitability to work with children and young people.  The process will include:

  • Carrying out an exams related in-tray exercise;
  • Meeting with a panel of our pupils for informal question and answer session;
  • Written safeguarding exercise;
  • Interview with Head Teacher, Assistant Head and Data Manager.

Key Dates

  • Deadline for applications is midday on midnight on Sunday 4th November 2018.
  • Assessment day will take place on Thursday 8th November 2018.  (Candidates should keep this day free when applying for the role).

Safeguarding and Safer Recruitment Statement

The Kingston Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.  We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks, including enhanced DBS checks (with a barred list check for regulated activity), checks with past employers and eligibility to work in the UK.  Identity and qualification documents will be checked prior to any offer being made.

The Kingston Academy is an ambitious and outstanding new mixed, mainstream secondary school located in a newly renovated traditional school building and significant, state-of-the-art new extension in Kingston upon Thames, near to the River Thames.

The Kingston Academy was established in 2015 by the Kingston Educational Trust, a partnership between Kingston University, Kingston College and the Royal Borough of Kingston.   The school initially opened with a single cohort of Year 7 pupils and has grown every year with an additional year group. It will eventually comprise all year groups including a Sixth Form in 2021-22.

The school's first full Ofsted inspection took place in May 2018 and the resulting report declared the school to be outstanding in all categories with no areas identified as needing improvement.

The announcement of the new cohort for September 2019 revealed the school to be heavily oversubscribed, drawing from a catchment area of less than 1km from the school.
