Job overview

LAET is seeking to recruit a dynamic and experienced Exams professional to oversee the running of our exams programmes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong eye for detail and the ability to apply strict compliance procedures. Flexibility to support the team during exam periods will be important.

Key responsibilities

  • To implement and maintain systems and procedures to manage all aspects of the exams administration process, ensuring they are compliant with current JCQ and Awarding Body regulations 
  • To lead the Examination Team, managing the examination process and maintaining effective communication with Exam Board personnel, school staff, students and parents including external (public and admissions) and internal assessments
  • To provide additional support to the Data team as required


Specific tasks

  • To report to and work closely with the Data and Exams Manager to co-ordinate the management of external and internal examinations
  • Manage the Examination Team to maintain effective communication with Exam Board personnel, school staff, students and parents ensuring that all queries and appeals are dealt with efficiently, meeting required deadlines.
  • Comply with JCQ and awarding body regulations, guidance and instructions and keep abreast of developments and updates.
  • Ensure up to date policies relating to exam procedures and processes are in place and that current working practices reflect these.
  • Co-operate with the JCQ Inspection Service and awarding bodies when subject to an inspection or monitoring visit.
  • To work with the Data and Exams Manager to operate cost effectively within an Examination budget, managing budget expenditure and authorising spend within budget provision.
  • To liaise with Heads of Departments with regards to the relevant exam boards and syllabuses studied to examination level. To establish the number of entries, process and submit entries, coursework marks and samples to Exam Boards, within timescales.
  • Be responsible for the planning and resourcing of internal and public exams, the resolution of clashes, the publication and distribution of exam timetables and exam board information.
  • Ensuring the appropriate access arrangements and ICT provisions are in place for candidates in addition to arranging rooming and seating plans.
  • Manage arrangements for logging receipts of exam materials, their secure storage, distribution and dispatch in line with JCQ requirements.
  • To support the Exams and Data Manager in the recruitment of invigilators, conduct training or updating sessions and be responsible for their deployment and day-to-day management.
  • Access results of external examinations and manage the integration into the school ICT system.
  • Ensure candidates and parents are aware of the processes for post results enquiries, key dates and arrangements. Submit requests for review of marking and access to scripts, monitor and share their outcomes.
  • Managing the checking and distribution of examination results and certificates.

The place for Academic rigour, LAE Tottenham is a 16-19 free school which opened in September 2017 in state of the art premises next to White Hart Lane stadium, offering academically rigorous A Level subjects.
