The Ralph Sherwin Multi-Academy Trust is seeking an inspirational leader to be work across two caring, community focused primaries as an Executive Headteacher.

  • St Joseph's Catholic Voluntary Academy (Matlock) strives to provide a safe secure, and challenging learning environment in which children feel respected and happy. St Joseph's has developed a broad, creative and progressive curriculum. It is extremely inclusive and ambitious, ensuring that all children regardless of ability are provided with the opportunity to fulfil their individual potential. St Joseph’s Catholic Academy is a very proud Catholic school and each of the Gospel Values underpin each element of the curriculum.
  • Christ the King Catholic Voluntary Academy (Alfreton) is a primary academy for children from the age of 3 to 11. The school is a successful and happy school where children learn and thrive in a positive environment with the aim to encourage individuality, creativity and positive attitudes assisting our children to not only achieve their potential but also, to ‘reach for the stars’.

Both schools are proud to be part of the St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi Academy Trust, formed as a partnership of the Catholic Voluntary Academies in the Diocese of Nottingham. The Trust is a family of 20 primary schools and five secondary schools in Derbyshire and the surrounding counties, united by a collective vision to excel.

 The Trust Directors wish to appoint an inspirational, ambitious and strategic executive leader who can build on the many strengths of the Academies, and work in partnership with the Trust, staff, parents and governors. We would like someone who:

  • is a practising Catholic with strong, lived faith and deep commitment to Catholic education, who fully supports the Catholic identity and has a desire to live out and share the faith through work:
  • values all children as individuals and ensures that all children are confident and able to achieve their full potential;
  • can fully embed the principles of safeguarding;
  • is an outstanding classroom practitioner, enjoys teaching and is keen to teach;
  • knows about the principles of developing outstanding learning, teaching and assessment for all pupils;
  • takes positive action to embed concepts of health and safety, welcome and inclusion within the school and wider community;
  • has the vision, passion and motivation to respond to changes in primary education, can continually raise standards and expectations in our school and share the vision and achievements - be proud;
  • can maintain a culture of excellence among staff and pupils alike;
  • is a leader and innovator who encourages, enthuses and motivates the school communities through excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
