Job overview

Do you want to be Ordinary? Do you want to lead a “Run of the mill” school? If so, read no further

Carrwood Primary can never be said to be a “run-of-the-mill” school and we don’t want it to be either. Carrwood Primary School is a two form entry Primary School, with a DSP and Behaviour Centre. It is bustling and vibrant and situated at the heart of its community. Carrwood Primary School is facing lots of challenges - all of which we can meet with the right leaders. OFSTED judged the school to be requiring improvement in late 2016 and actions taken so far have rapidly impacted on the improvement journey. The Governors wish to appoint two key leaders who can skilfully maintain and accelerate the momentum of improvement and development; our children deserve a good education in a good school.

We need a strategic leader who is both outward and inward facing—keeping a close eye on provision and standards but also developing, local partnerships with schools and other organisations that will be of benefit to the pupils at Carrwood. The successful applicant does not need to be an existing Executive Headteacher but will have the qualities and attributes to enable the school to take advantage of opportunities presented by the changing educational landscape.

The successful applicants will need to:

  • Be uncompromising in their pursuit of excellence
  • Be totally committed to developing an inclusive school culture
  • Be brave and resilient
  • Have strong strategic and inspirational leadership skills
  • Have a strong commitment to achieving success through partnership and teamwork
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Have a passion for learning

In return, you will get:

  • Pupils that will make you smile every day and provide you with everlasting memories
  • Hard working staff that want to make the school the best it can be
  • Support and challenge from a forward thinking Governing Body
  • A commitment to your continuous professional development

Carrwood Primary School is located in Holmewood, Bradford and has recently  expanded from a one form to a two form entry school.  In June 2015 we received permission to lower our age range to welcome two year olds.  Carrwood is a highly  inclusive and welcoming school at the heart of its community,  which is safe, happy and a vibrant place in which pupils want to learn and excel. Staff know children well and build positive relationships offering outstanding nurture and care as well as supporting and ensuring academic progress. We recognise our responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all our pupils. We set aspirational targets for pupils achievement and overcome formidable barriers to learning to achieve them.

Carrwood Primary is a unique school in that it also has additional provision, including:

Phoenix Behaviour Centre
This is a centre that takes children from all over the Bradford District either through the Primary Behaviour Panel.

Designated Special Provision (DSP)
This is a provision for Autism. All the children are on the roll of Carrwood and are above the roll number for the school.

Branches – nd Community Skills Centre
This facility was built using funds from a European Funding bid and Sure Start. The cost of running the building is self funded through Team Teach.

Petals Nursery
Petals is a new 24 place nursery for two year olds.
