Job overview

Parkside Community College is part of Cambridge Academic Partnership, a successful local group of academies. Our schools share a mission to be a leading learning partnership and to improve the life chances of the children and young people in their care.

Our Partnership in Cambridge comprises Coleridge Community College, Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology, and Trumpington Community College as well as Parkside itself.  The Executive Headteacher will be responsible for ensuring that the four schools collaborate effectively to promote high quality, bespoke school improvement and wider opportunities for both staff and students to work together.

Parkside Community College is an exciting school to work in, with a very strong local reputation, rated outstanding by Ofsted. It is also a teaching school, a National Support School, and an IB World School. We are ambitious for the school as it builds on its many strengths to become a truly exceptional school, playing a key role in the development of our leading learning partnership.  Cambridge Academic Partnership is planning to join the United Learning group of schools later this year, and we anticipate that this wider national network will enable us to achieve our local ambitions.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious leader looking to combine the autonomy of running their own school and coordinating the work of the partnership, with the benefit of working as part of a national group.  Cambridge Academic Partnership and United Learning both prioritise collaboration, value shared practice and provide high-quality professional development.

The college is based in the centre of Cambridge and plays a vital part in its community. It promotes the key values of empowerment, innovation, ambition and respect that are essential to ensuring that young people can thrive and have high aspirations.

As Executive Headteacher, you will demonstrate a clear commitment to the school, the partnership, and the communities it serves. You will model outstanding leadership and set high expectations for students and staff. Your professionalism, expertise and enthusiasm for education will be evident each and every day, in all that you do.

If you are looking for an exciting, challenging and highly rewarding role within a group that offers a strong commitment to professional development, and if you have an unshakeable commitment to improving the lives of young people, we encourage you to visit us.

Find out more and apply by downloading the Candidate Pack.

Completed applications and covering letters should be addressed to Janet Swadling, Chair of MAT Board, and sent to the HR Department at Cambridge Academic Partnership, Parkside, Cambridge, CB1 1EH or emailed to hr@cap.education.

Cambridge Academic Partnership will join United Learning in September 2019 subject to Regional Schools Commissioner Headteacher Board approval.

Closing date: 25th March 2019

Interview date: 4th & 5th April 2019

About United Learning Cambridge Cluster

United Learning is a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resources, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

The Cambridge cluster of United Learning comprises: three secondary schools - Coleridge, Parkside and Trumpington; The Galfrid, a primary school; and Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology, a specialist 13-19 academy. We work closely together to realise our goal of ensuring the best possible education for our students.

Staff collaborate across the cluster to ensure the schools bring out the best in everyone. We have a shared team of support staff with a focus on delivering excellent services. Our community benefits from access to specialist facilities across the schools, while our combined extra curricular offer promotes our commitment to education with character.

Our staff tell us that they think our cluster provides a great community to work in and to develop their career - within the wider United Learning group we aim to offer you unrivalled professional development and the opportunity to work as part of a team where your contribution is really valued.
