Job overview

Solent Academies Trust is a successful multi-academy trust specialising in Special Educational Needs (SEN) catering for pupils with a wide range of complex needs from 2 to 19 years old. We have come a long way over recent years and our current Executive Headteacher leaves us in a very strong position. Three of our academies are achieving excellence and we have a proven track record of making a positive difference to the lives of our pupils. A fourth school in West Sussex has recently joined the Trust and is already benefiting from being a member of the Trust and making good progress.

We are also very proud of our Teaching School Alliance, which has become increasingly successful in contributing to school improvement locally, in training and inducting new teachers and in leading the Portsmouth Challenge Partners Hub.

We are now seeking an inspiring and exceptional Executive Headteacher/CEO to lead Solent Academies Trust in its next stages of consolidation and development. In the longer term, we have ambition to grow within the local area. This is a very exciting and genuine opportunity for a new leader to have a real impact on shaping the future direction of the Trust, building on our vision and successes, leading our teams to accomplish their very best and providing the highest quality learning and teaching to enable all our pupils to achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding strategic leader who can wholeheartedly embrace the vison, values and ethos of Solent Academies Trust and will empower others to do the same. You are already an experienced Executive Headteacher or a Headteacher with a track record of success in a special educational needs setting, ideally across more than one school. You will bring in-depth knowledge and experience of contemporary thinking about effective education in the special education needs sector, a track record of successful change management and partnership working, and extensive staff development experience and expertise. As important will be your passion for education and children’s learning, determination to make a positive difference and commitment to continuous improvement.

Solent Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check is required for all successful applicants.
