Job overview

The governors, staff and pupils of Bugthorpe and Sutton Upon Derwent CE Primary Schools seek an inspirational, dynamic and focused Executive Headteacher to continue the good work of our much valued Headteacher who is retiring in August 2017.

Both schools are in attractive rural villages, with thriving local communities and our enthusiastic pupils are confident, happy and enjoy learning. Our schools have shared Christian values and the ambitions of each school are expressed in school visions.

At Bugthorpe Primary School we aim to provide a high quality education in a safe and stimulating indoor and outdoor environment. We want every child to experience a happy, successful and memorable primary education. The children do this by learning life skills, developing self-confidence, independence and building positive relationships rooted in Christian values. We work hard, have fun and make a difference.

At Sutton Upon Derwent Primary School we believe in making our church school a place of love and happiness where every individual is valued. Everyone is encouraged to uphold Christian values in order to discover, grow and develop into adaptable, caring citizens, keen to participate in a natural environment and ever changing world. Together we love, laugh, discover and grow.

Pupils achieve well in our schools and both schools are rated “good” by Ofsted.

You will have outstanding leadership and management skills with the vision to inspire and to maintain the progress towards excellence that is already evident in the schools.

We welcome applications from individuals who can offer us:

  • senior leadership experience, preferably as a headteacher or deputy headteacher
  • a passionate, aspirational leader with an exciting vision for the future development of the schools
  • a compassionate leader who values our families and children individually and is committed to helping them achieve their potential
  • the ability to work closely in partnership with a team of enthusiastic and dedicated staff, supportive governors and parents.

You will be offered a comprehensive three year induction package.

There will be an opportunity for candidates to visit the schools during w/c Monday 30 January.
