Job overview

Our Board of Trustees is seeking to appoint a high performing individual, with a strong track record, to lead this thriving two school multi-academy trust into the future. Heathland School was judged outstanding by OFSTED in December 2010 and again in February 2014. Whitefriars School has become a popular, over-subscribed school where pupil attainment is high. It was fully federated with Heathland School in August 2012.

Our current Executive Headteacher is taking planned retirement in July 2017 after a distinguished career spanning forty years in education, including eight years of school improvement and outstanding leadership of the Heathland Whitefriars Federation.

The Heathland Whitefriars Federation became a converter Multi-Academy Trust in July 2014. It operates on two sites with a single Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team. In 2014 both schools were in the top 5% or 250 schools nationally for progress. Outcomes improved further in 2015, with Whitefriars placed in the Top 100 Schools nationally by the DfE for progress 2012-2015.

In 2013, the Secretary of State for Education approved a £16 million TBNF bid to expand Whitefriars to be a 3 –18 through-school, including a 750 place high school section and sixth form. The first cohort of sixty Year 7 students was admitted in September 2015 and the second cohort of 120 Year 7 students joined in September 2016.

A new landmark building was completed in Spring 2016 to offer an innovative all-age school with state of the art facilities. The primary section of Whitefriars School is expanding from two to three form entry to meet local demand for primary school places. By 2021 there are projected to be nearly 2,300 learners from 3 to 18 in the Federation.

Our Federation is firmly rooted in a strong pedagogy that enables successful learning through a growth mind set and a deep values-based education.

Trustees are seeking to appoint a suitably able and experienced individual who will further develop the organisation, ensuring outstanding leadership as well as maintaining and improving outcomes as the Federation develops.

Potential candidates are warmly invited to one of our open events to meet key stakeholders.
