An opportunity to truly impact the lives of our children, families and community

The Governors are seeking an experienced and visionary Executive Headteacher capable of driving the highest standards in Teaching and Learning and behaviour, resulting in significant and sustainable rapid school improvement.

Life in the schools has not been without its challenges. In recent years there have been changes in leadership and an inspection in September 2021 indicated that the boys school needed to make significant improvements. This has provided powerful stimulus to the school community and we have acted strongly in response to the inspection.

The schools have a newly appointed Governing Body who are ready and willing to embrace change and improvements, the appointed candidate will have the opportunity to reshape the vision and mission of the schools and invigorate the learning community.

The successful candidate must be a Catholic in good standing with the church and will demonstrate:

• A commitment to developing the Catholic life of the federation, ensuring Catholic values are at the centre of all we do

• Experience of raising standards in a school that has been in challenging circumstances

• An unwavering focus on driving standards in behaviour

• A record of sustained progress in raising standards in teaching and learning, with improved outcomes for young people

• The ability to reinvigorate teaching, developing and improving the quality of teaching and learning to a point where the majority of lessons are graded as Good or Outstanding by Ofsted

• The ability to articulate a clear vision for the organisation and management of the schools and who has the resilience to ensure that it is successfully implemented.

• Excellent strategic leadership -a thoughtful and well informed approach to leading educational change

• Strong interpersonal leadership – an approachable leader with a strong sense of moral purpose and integrity

If you have the vision, drive and determination to lead Bishop Challoner, are excited about the rewarding challenge of harnessing the school’s potential and taking the schools to the next phase of their development, then the Governing Body would be delighted to hear from you.
