Job overview

This is a unique opportunity for an existing or aspiring Headteacher, to take on an exciting role, managing four very successful and highly regarded village schools, unlocking their potential and leading them to the next level of development, building on their many strengths and developing already excellent relationships with their wider communities.

Each school has its own individual characteristics and lies at the centre of its community.

Currently, all our schools are rated Good by Ofsted/SIAMS with the exception of Cracoe which is Outstanding. The Federation has a single Governing body and benefits from excellent support, provided by the Diocese and Local Authority advisers.

Three of our schools are Church schools which display a distinctive Christian ethos. Together with our fourth (LA) school they are friendly welcoming places with high aspirations where every child is encouraged to be the best he or she can be.

Our schools are situated in beautiful rural locations within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The catchment area is 22 miles from top to toe and covers 115 square miles. The schools are within a 20 minute drive (approximately) of each other. Despite our rural settings, Leeds, West Yorkshire and Lancashire are easily accessible.

Your remit will be to continue to strive for excellence in all aspects of school life.
In addition, you will be expected to develop and maintain the strong and distinctive ethos in each school.

Working closely with each community, you’ll also promote each school to ensure it remains highly visible and attractive to parents, maintain strong links with the Church, and develop local stakeholder networks to maximise influence and support.

A strong leader, team builder and communicator, you will be comfortable in developing and building networks, partnerships and collaborations with the whole school community. You will also have the skills and ability to manage your time effectively between the schools, to ensure that staff are supported, developed and integrated into the wider team. You will also ensure that finances are effectively managed.

You will receive positive support from our experienced Governing Body and working closely with them, the Local Authority and the Diocese, plan for the sustainability of the Federation.

We would encourage you to visit our schools in advance of your application and see for yourself how we work together to ensure the best possible outcomes for our children and experience the unique nature of the role. Such a visit is not part of the selection process, and whether or not applicants have visited will not influence the final outcome.

Our schools will be open for visits on Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 May. To book your visit contact admin@cracoerylstone.n-yorks.sch.uk to make arrangements. If you cannot attend on either of these date, please email us and we will do our best to accommodate you.
