Job overview
The de Ferrers Trust is a multi-academy trust based in Staffordshire and Derbyshire. We consist of 3 secondary academies and 4 primary academies. This role is specifically across two of our primary academies, both based in Burton on Trent: Lansdowne Infants and Eton Park Juniors. The schools are located less than half a mile from each other.
Lansdowne Infants has vibrant and well-resourced indoor and outdoor learning environments. Our nursery is a self-contained unit with separate facilities run by a highly experienced teacher and Early Years practitioner. We also have a bright, well-resourced Reception unit consisting of two separate classrooms and shared outdoor and creative areas.
At the end of Year 2, children move seamlessly from Lansdowne Infants to Eton Park Juniors. Eton Park is a purpose-built academy for pupils between the ages of 7 and 11 and was opened in October 1991. We have a very generous site which includes playing fields, a hard surface playground, a trim trail, ICT theatre, gardens and a nature conservation area.
Our vision is to ensure that all the children and young people in our care have the opportunity to fulfil their potential through achieving highly, regardless of their ability or background.
At The de Ferrers Trust we believe in working hard, being kind and choosing wisely. We are privileged to work in a community where we have a positive impact on children’s lives and future every day.
The Candidate
We are seeking to appoint an inspirational leader to build on the strengths of the academies and the community they serve. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a successful, supportive, and geographically close multi-academy trust where you can lead the academies development but with the support and backing of an accessible Trust Central Team as well as being a part of our Trust Leadership Team (TLT) which includes all of our primary and secondary Principals.
We are looking for a talented individual who wants to be a part of transforming education while helping to create an exceptional place for learning. To be successful, you will have:
- Vision, commitment, and high expectations, leading by example;
- Extensive experience in education and in providing strong, approachable, and supportive leadership;
- Drive and passion to support our Trust values and play an active part in developing our Trust;
- Exceptionally high expectations for all to have the very best curriculum and enrichment opportunities for pupils to give them every opportunity to succeed and flourish.
You will be an established primary leader, with the skill and vision to realise the huge potential of all-through primary education. You take overall responsibility for the performance of each academy. To do this well, you will need to learn quickly, develop strong structures and provide clear strategic direction to the talented staff team.
There is already much to be proud of at Lansdowne Infants & Eton Park Juniors, but room to grow in pursuit of excellence. As we enter the next phase of our development, we need to build on successes and embrace future challenges.
There may be an opportunity for additional cross-trust responsibilities, particularly around curriculum development, for a suitably experienced candidate.
If you would like an informal discussion with our Chief Executive Officer, Kathy Hardy, please contact her PA, Rebecca Upton, on 01283 372600.
