A school in North Derby is looking for a year 3 teacher to start in September, due to an emergency sickness cover being needed. Ideally the school would have an experienced teacher who would be able to quickly take control of the class and adopt the school’s policies and ethos from the offset. The head has made it clear that anyone who is to be successful following an interview and a trial day would be expected to plan lessons and assess the children throughout at least the first term. As well as this they also want to adapt their current lesson structures and update them to keep up with the current curriculum.
The job role is on a full time long term supply basis, so there is no guarantee that the role will continue after the first term, however the senior leadership team will review the progress of the teacher and decide whether to offer them a full time post at the school. The school is easily accessible by car and is easy to reach from Derby City as well as northern Derbyshire. As the role is beginning in September and is somewhat of an emergency cover, the school have stated that it will not be appropriate for an NQT, purely because they already have some NQT’s starting in September so don’t have the resources to offer them.
The interview process will involve a candidate demonstrating their ability within a classroom environment, delivering a lesson to the SLT and potentially to a full class of children. Strong classroom and behaviour management will go a long way as well as demonstrating strong references from previous positions.
