Good News Lutheran College, a growing school located in rapidly developing western suburbs of Melbourne, has an exciting opportunity to join the team.

Expression of interest is invited from teachers of the following subjects:  

• Physical Education (particularly junior years PE) – approximately .4FTE

• Visual Arts (various, but flexible, subject opportunities including visual arts, photography and ceramics) – approximately .6FTE

• Digital Technology (various, but flexible, subject opportunities including programming and using 3D printers) – approximately .2FTE

Applicants with experience across multiple areas are encouraged to apply, as well as those seeking only part-time employment.

Good News Lutheran College aims to provide a quality holistic education in the Lutheran tradition which values Christian beliefs and living, and provide a sound academic, spiritual, physical, social and emotional preparation for the students’ lives ahead.  The College is a candidate for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP). 

Teachers are required to work collaboratively with parents and each other to provide a supportive environment where students can develop their areas of strength while embracing new and exciting opportunities. Emphasis is placed on the development of positive relationships and the promotion of sound values

About Good News Lutheran College

Good News Lutheran College is a co-educational, non-selective, Lutheran, independent day school, serving students aged 4-18. Located in Tarneit, Victoria, the all-through school has approximately 786 enrolled students.

Good News Lutheran College was established in 1997 as Good News Primary School by members of the Christ the Lord, Laverton, and St Philip’s, Werribee, Lutheran congregations. The school was renamed Good News Christian School in 2000, then Good News Lutheran School in 2005. The school became Good News Lutheran College in 2010 following approval to extend to secondary education. The first Year 7 cohort commenced in 2011, with each additional secondary year level added over the following six years. Good News Lutheran College is a member of Lutheran Education Australia.

Facilities

Good News Lutheran College undertook extensive building works to accommodate the addition of secondary students. New facilities constructed included six new classrooms and a multi-purpose hall with gymnasium and drama room. In 2015, the college expanded its premises and added a new science block and a new technology block. 

Curriculum

The college adheres to the curriculum guidelines of the Victorian Directorate of School Education, as well as the guidelines of other Lutheran schools. The college’s curriculum is derived from the Australian Curriculum and the AusVELS curriculum, and is regularly revised by teachers. Support programmes are available for disadvantaged students.

Good News Lutheran College aims to deliver a quality Christian education to the children of the local Lutheran congregations as well as others who support its ethos. A strong values programme seeks to ground students in the Christian faith, nurture their sense of self-worth, and develop their respect for others.
